REDWatch meetings
RedWatch is a community group, which covers the Sydney suburbs of Redfern Eveleigh Darlington and Waterloo. REDWatch exists to monitor Government involvement in our area and to push for outcomes that benefit the community and not just the Government.
This month, Pre- the state election, Representatives from the three main NSW Government parties will be attending to host a briefing and Q/A session on their current/ future Housing policies.
RedWatch meetings are the 1st Thursday of the month at 6pm

Following up the success of the Community Learning and Research Forum held on October 7th ,facilitated by Judy Stubbs. The Forum agreed to set up this Committee with membership open to anyone who wished to participate. Easy Cooking on a Budget
The course will start on 23rd March 2011. It will run 4 consecutive Wednesdays:
Time: 9.30 – 1.00 pm
Venue: “Our Place”, Morehead St, Redfern.
Cost: FREE
This course provides an opportunity for parents to learn new cooking skills in a safe, fun environment with other parents. Children are welcomed as a play-mat is provided and workers are available for childcare.
There is no cost for this course, and participants take home the ingredients from each recipe and some cooking utensils each week!

Laneway Art program– Open for submissions
2011 marks the fifth year of the Laneway Art program which is helping to redefine Sydney as a truly cultural and creative city as envisioned in the City’s Sustainable Sydney 2030 plan. With the intention to activate and enliven Sydney’s laneways and public spaces through temporary public art the City’s Laneway Art program is developing a reputation for innovative and exciting works by some of Australia’s best artists and designers and other creative minds.
The submission of Laneway Art proposals in 2011 can be either Individual Project Proposals or Curatorial Proposals by curators or curatorial teams recommending groups of artists to undertake the Laneway Program.
- Individual Project Proposals may also include a curator who supplies a curatorial theme or statement for the artwork.
- Curatorial Proposals submitted should include a curatorial theme or statement and nominate a group of artists to develop a series of temporary art projects in up to 8 City laneways
Next year’s Laneway Art program will run from October 2011 to January 2012.

RedWater markets
The RedWater Markets are held every 3rd Saturday of the month from 8am till 4pm using community spaces to bring community life into Redfern Park.
The market focus is (not exclusively) on sustainable goods, handmade, recycled or second hand, and is environmentally friendly. All monies raised from the stallholder-fees are injected back into the community supporting local environmental projects such as the Waterloo Recycling Workshop and the Cycle-Re-Cycle Club.
The Factory Community Centre holds the ater Markets each month at Redfern Park as a community project within the Redfern / Waterloo area with the support of the City of Sydney, Clubs NSW and the Housing Communities Program (HCP) funded by Housing NSW.
Products that you can find in the markets are:
Second-hand clothes, books, recycled goods, flowers/plants, food, hand-made goods, community groups and others.
